Visit to Child Development Centre (CDC) in Kiarong [19/7/07]

On 19th July 2007, our Paediatric group went to a morning visit to the Child Development Centre in Kiarong, along with the Community group and their teacher, Cikgu Saloma. The Child Development Centre is a special centre under the Ministry of Health. Their aim is to facilitate the provision of services for diagnosis, assessment, treatment and support therapies for children in order to ensure their optimal health and development. It is the only child development centre for the whole of Brunei Darussalam and caters for all the four districts.

The Community Paediatric doctors are the ones handling the cases in this centre for children who have developmental problems e.g. speech delay, learning difficulties. Other healthcare workers are also involved such as the occupational therapists, medical social workers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapist and also clinical psychologists. Hearing impaired children can also be sent to this centre to help them to be able to communicate in their daily communications, for example, they will be taught to learn sign languages by a special tutor.

That's a little bit of info on Child Development Centre in Kiarong. I'll edit this post if I have more information regarding the centre. :D To my colleagues, please do contribute and correct any misinformations in this post!! Tolong ahh~~ pleasee? :P
